I have seen this dress attributed to Suzy Perette but also have seen it attributed to more minor designers and since this one has no tag I cannot say for sure who the original designer was. It is certainly well made enough to be a Perette and is a lovely little dress regardless. Made of a beautiful grade, black silk taffeta for the skirt and a velvet at the top. The front is cut simply so the bodice is nicely fitted to the body. The waist nips in over a full skirt and is set high up under the bust. The skirt is full and has the perfect amount of fullness that allows you wear it with or without a crinoline and not be too overwhelmed by volume (shown with a light crinoline under it here that is not included). The "coffin drape" ruching and gathers that the skirt has is of course the highlight of the dress and gives it incredible texture and an almost "goth" feel yet the lies and fabrics keep it from being too dark in feel. Its a little beauty! Excellent condition.
Fully interlined in a black silk and closes with a back painted metal zipper. Styled here with a light crinoline underneath that is not included. It can easily be worn without one and still has volume.
